In observance of Eid-ul-Adha, the Federal Government has designated Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays. On behalf of the Federal Government, Interior Minister Dr.
Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made the statement. The Minister thanked all members of the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and the Diaspora in his address to the Muslim faithful.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo asked Muslims to consider the principles of faith, sacrifice, and obedience exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him)—principles central to Eid-ul-Adha. He emphasized the importance of national unity and spiritual contemplation over the festival season and urged citizens to spend the time to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
The Minister further assured Nigerians of the Federal Government’s continued commitment to reforms and policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at repositioning Nigeria for growth and development.
“As we celebrate, let us also remember to contribute our quota to the task of nation-building,” he said, encouraging all Nigerians to support the government’s efforts in restoring the country’s dignity and pride.
