Worshippers in Dole Moriki hamlet, Moriki District, Zurmi Local Government Area, were reportedly been ambushed by heavily armed individuals during Isha (night prayers).
The community was shocked by the incident, which has resulted in one verified death and two injuries.
A group of armed bandits broke into the village at around 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and started shooting at Muslim worshippers who were attending Isha prayers in a nearby mosque, according to intelligence sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama.
“One person was confirmed dead at the scene, while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries as the bandits shot sporadically at worshippers during the prayer session,” Zagazola said.
