A ransom of ₦1 billion has been requested by the kidnappers who kidnapped Mr. Sam Xie Wie, a Chinese expatriate, and his Nigerian colleague, Mr.
David Adenaiye, during an attack on a mining site in Kwara State. Zagazola Makama, a security analyst, posted the demand on his verified X account on Friday.
The article claims that the kidnappers called an acquaintance named Mr. Leo Liang using the victims’ cell phones and demanded the enormous amount in exchange for their release. A violent attack on a mining site on Wednesday resulted in the abduction of the victims.
The attack also led to the death of two personnel of the Police Mobile Force who were assigned to protect the expatriates.
Makama noted that security operatives and local vigilante groups have launched a search operation in an effort to rescue the abducted men unharmed.
