Residents of Chito town in Adzendeshi Council Ward, Ukum Local Government Area, are experiencing fear and worry as a result of a brutal raid by heavily armed bandits early on Saturday.
Around 2:26 a.m., the attackers—who were said to number over ten—entered the Tse-Mamkaa Compound and caused chaos for almost ninety minutes.
Witnesses claim that the group abused locals, pillaged houses, and took a variety of possessions, including clothing, shoes, and basic food and culinary supplies like flour, salt, and spice cubes.
In a formal report addressed to security agencies and local authorities, Dr. Isaac H. Mamkaa, a political science lecturer at the College of Education, Katsina-Ala, confirmed that his family compound was among those targeted. He revealed that Timothy T. Mamkaa and Nathaniel Mwuesega Mamkaa, the family patriarch, sustained injuries during the assault.
The home of their grandfather, Kur Sev Adudu, was also reportedly ransacked during the attack.
More alarming, Dr. Mamkaa noted that the intruders issued a chilling threat before leaving — promising to return for a more devastating strike.
“In view of the above… I appeal for your timely response and/or proactive action to avert the impending/looming calamity,” his letter to the authorities read.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official response from the police or any other security agency. No arrests have been made.
The brazen attack has heightened concerns over escalating insecurity in parts of Benue State, with locals now calling on the government and security forces to intensify protection measures before the community suffers further devastation.
