A Nigerian doctor has expressed grave concern about what he refers to as a “silent pandemic”—the supposed rise in the number of young female students giving their eggs in exchange for cash.
He asserts that because of the dire economic conditions in the nation, many of these women, particularly those attending universities, are hurrying to reproductive clinics and trading their eggs for meager money.
According to him, “Due to dire economic circumstances, our young ladies are selling their future children for peanuts, and everyone is silent.”
A picture of a gloved hand holding a test tube containing what looks to be a recently extracted egg sample was included with the tweet.
According to him, nobody is talking about it.
