In Benue State, a fight over a confiscated school cap allegedly led to a junior secondary school 3 student beating his teacher to death. The incident took place in the state’s Oju Local Government Area on Thursday, July 10, 2025. The suspect, named as Friday Ogamude, 16, a pupil at UBE Oju Center, challenged his instructor, Mr.
Oyibe Oyibe, 35, over a cap that the teacher had confiscated since May 2025, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama. When the student allegedly hit the teacher after a heated argument, the altercation swiftly got out of hand.
According to reports, the instructor immediately sagged. He was taken right away to Amara Hospital in Oju, where a physician verified his diagnosis.
The body of the deceased has been photographed and deposited at the General Hospital, Oju, for autopsy, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Police say the suspect was arrested as the command condemned the act and assured the public that justice will be served.
