On Monday morning, residents of Birnin Kebbi’s Gotar Aliero by Oando awoke to see a man’s lifeless body in a pool of blood at the central market’s entrance. The event has been verified by the Kebbi State Police Command, which has named the dead as Auwal Umar, 35, of Katami village in the Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State. After a furious altercation at Kara Market earlier in the day, the victim was allegedly murdered by his buddy, Bello Amakwa, 30, of Birnin Kebbi, according to Police Public Relations Officer CSP Nafiu Abubakar.
Later that evening, Amakwa allegedly came back and stabbed Umar as he slept. After being taken into custody, he confessed to the crime when questioned.
