A 22-year-old has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ Osun State Command for attempting to rape two women he saw stealing pepper on a farm.
In a statement released on Monday, August 11, 2025, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Kehinde Adeleke, stated that even though the suspect does not own the farm where the women were apprehended, he threatened to report them to security personnel unless they gave him the opportunity to have his way with them.
Adeleke added that although one of the women was able to escape the scene, the suspect grabbed the other, physically abused her, and attempted to get sex with her.
“According to the suspect’s confessional statement, he saw two ladies plucking pepper in someone’s farm at Ita-Olokan, Osogbo, and he challenged them why they were plucking the pepper,” the statement read.
“Thereafter, he told them, they would be handed over to law enforcement, and the ladies started begging him.
“He later said he would have carnal knowledge of both of them as the only way not to be handed over to security personnel.
“According to the ladies, they struggled with him; in the process, one escaped, and he eventually pushed the other one to the floor.
“The suspect explained further that he didn’t have his way with the lady, he only laid on her and quickly ejaculated because he thought the other one that escaped might call on people around for help.”
Restating readiness of the organisation to rid the state of criminally-minded individuals, Osun NSCDC Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, urged members of the public to report suspicious activity to the command for prompt action.
