
In Ogun State, 93 people have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on suspicion of committing online fraud.
The arrests were made during a sting operation in the state capital of Abeokuta, the agency said in a statement published on its X account on Sunday.
The announcement claims that 93 alleged online scammers have been taken into custody by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Ogun State.
“After receiving reliable information regarding their alleged involvement in online crimes, they were apprehended in a sting operation in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday, August 10, 2025.”
The EFCC added that several items were seized from the suspects during the operation.
“Upon their arrest, 18 vehicles and mobile devices were recovered from them. They will be charged in court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the statement read.
