
The Village Head of Sukutum in Katsina State’s Kankiya Local Government Area has been taken into custody by security personnel on suspicion of being an informant to armed bandits.
According to security expert Zagazola Makama, the suspect, whose name has not yet been made public, was captured after intelligence reports connected him to local criminal organizations.
Security sources claim that the village chief was charged with giving the bandits information about the whereabouts of security guards and communities that were at risk, allowing them to carry out attacks. Additionally, according to the sources, he regularly went to the bandits’ hiding places to stay in touch and plan activities.
Authorities said the suspect is in custody and undergoing further investigation to determine the extent of his involvement and to identify other possible collaborators.
