Dino Melaye, a former senator from Kogi West, left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a video posted on his verified X handle on Thursday, Melaye made the announcement. In the video, Melaye’s office was visited by ADC leaders from Kogi State, who gave him the party’s membership card.
ADC state leader Kingsley Temitope led the group, which also included ward officials, the party secretary, and executives from the local government.
“I present the African Democratic Congress membership card to Distinguished Senator Dino Melaye,” Temitope remarked as he handed the card over.
“He is a full member and has started contributing to the party even before we presented him with the membership card.”
Melaye, donning an outfit branded with ADC’s logo, responded in writing: “SDM fully ADC.”
Speaking further on his decision, Temitope emphasised the value Melaye brings to the party, saying, “His commitment to nation-building and democratic values makes him a valuable asset.
“We believe his experience and voice will strengthen ADC’s mission to offer real alternatives to Nigerians.”
