Federal Government Set to Build Africa’s First Underwater Tunnel Linking Lagos-Calabar, Sokoto-Badagry Highways
The Federal Government has revealed plans to develop Africa’s pioneering underwater tunnel, bridging the ongoing Lagos-Calabar and Sokoto-Badagry highways.
On Wednesday, David Umahi, Minister of Works, revealed during an inspection tour in Lagos that the tunnel will stretch for 2.9 kilometres, connecting Ahmadu Bello Way to Snake Island and Badagry.
Our tunnel, situated underground, will span 2.9 kilometres. Upon completion, it will be the first underwater tunnel in Africa,
The minister explained that the project would be executed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement, utilizing land resources around Snake Island and Badagry to fund the initiative.
