A disturbing video from Ekpoma, Edo State, has surfaced online, highlighting the devastating impact of a flood that swept away a man while others struggled to stay alive.
Man swept away by raging floodwaters
A flooded road in Ekpoma was the site of a recent incident, where several people attempted to cross using different modes of transportation.
Eyewitnesses reported that the victim’s bike fell into the water, and one of the men was swept away by the strong current.
The video footage shows onlookers screaming “save him, save him” as the man disappeared into the floodwaters.
Other victims were seen desperately holding onto a tree to avoid being swept away.
Others rescued from areas with less flooding
Rescue efforts were reportedly ongoing in areas of the road where flooding was less severe.
Several individuals were safely pulled to safety, while those at the center of the water flow struggled to survive.
The video has since gone viral, sparking fear and outrage regarding the deteriorating flood situation in parts of Edo State.
