Mavin Records founder and music producer Don Jazzy has reflected on the potential personal costs of his career success in the music industry.
Speaking on the Echo Podcast, the 42-year-old music mogul revealed that he did not anticipate being unmarried by his 40s, suggesting that this may be the one area where he has made significant personal sacrifices for the sake of his professional goals.
“I didn’t expect to be unmarried at this stage of my life,” he admitted.
“Maybe this is the price I paid for my success. If marriage happens, that’s great; if not, I’m perfectly fine with my current situation.
” Don Jazzy also mused that if he weren’t a music executive, he would probably still be involved in the music industry or would have built a successful career as a social media influencer.
As a hitmaker who has discovered and groomed stars like Tiwa Savage, Rema, and Ayra Starr, he acknowledged that his journey has involved personal sacrifices but ultimately yielded a sense of fulfillment with his accomplishments in the industry.
Before his rise to fame as a successful music producer in Africa, Don Jazzy had a brief marriage during his early twenties.
While residing in London, Don Jazzy married model and writer Michelle Jackson in 2003. However, their marriage was short-lived, lasting only two years before ending in divorce.
Don Jazzy has publicly acknowledged that his all-consuming passion for music and career aspirations made it difficult to balance his family life.
Although the marriage ended, he has consistently spoken highly of Michelle, describing her as a “beautiful soul” and highlighting their continued amicability.
