The lifeless bodies of three unidentified male adults have been discovered in their apartment on Olateju Street in the Lekki Phase One area of Lagos State. kIKISBLOG ONLINE NEWS has learned that the incident transpired in the early hours of Sunday, with the victims purportedly cohabiting in a makeshift room. It has been established that the deceased were casual workers who earned their livelihood by performing menial tasks and taking on daily labour within the neighbourhood. A resident, who identified himself simply as Alfred but requested anonymity as he was not permitted to speak with the media, stated that the victims were asleep when the attackers invaded their room.
According to him, the attackers dragged them out of the room and brutally murdered them with machetes. He stated, “The boys resided in a temporary structure erected on the premises of a building on the street. We were aware that they worked as laborers and also performed tasks for individuals. However, on Sunday morning, one of their colleagues who also stayed in the vicinity raised the alarm over an attack on the boys. Upon rushing to the scene, people found the three of them lying in a pool of blood with machete cuts all over their bodies. We were informed that the assailants dragged them out of the room before killing them.” Another resident, who is a member of the Lekki Estate Residents Association and wished to remain anonymous, said the incident threw the area into chaos.
He stated that there was no record of any similar incident occurring on the street, noting that the police were promptly summoned to the scene.
We have become more cautious with regards to the security situation in this area. Security measures are being intensified as I speak, he added. As of press time, the motive behind the killing was still unknown. kIKISBLOG NEWSLINE learnt from other sources in the community that it could be linked to cult clashes or a dispute involving the deceased.
