We previously defeated Nigeria – Benin coach Rohr targets 2026 World Cup qualification

Gernot Rohr, Benin Republic’s head coach, is confident that his team can secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup.

In Group C, the Leopards are currently in second place with 14 points, a deficit of three points to leaders South Africa.

With only two matches left, Benin have a solid chance of securing a position, either as group winners by beating Bafana Bafana or as one of the top-ranked runners-up.

With only two games left to play, the outcome is far from certain. Now that we have 14 points, we have a chance to finish first in the group, and also possibly be among the best runners-up,” Rohr said.

It is imperative that we continue on this trajectory. The team has become well-rounded, it no longer concedes goals. It fights in unison.

We maintain a hopeful outlook without being overly optimistic. We recognize the difficulty. We know Rwanda well; we have already defeated Nigeria on this ground. So indeed, all possibilities are open.
