The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency detained two suspected drug traffickers during an anti-trafficking stroll along Ihama Road in Edo State.
The suspects were captured on Wednesday when participants marched through Benin City’s principal avenues to mark the 2025 World Day Against Trafficking. Speaking to reporters following the walk and arrests, NDLEA Edo State Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju stated that people and narcotics trafficking were inextricably linked and represented serious kinds of organized crime.
He portrayed both crimes as extremely successful operations that drew many people into criminal networks motivated by greed and a lack of morality.
He said: “In the course of this walk through Benin City, we apprehended two drug traffickers. They will face prosecution in accordance with the law.’
“This sends a strong warning to those involved in drug and human trafficking: you can run, but we will catch you.’’
