Tiwa Savage, a prominent Afrobeats artist, has addressed her relationship with fellow music icon Davido, dispelling recent tensions and emphasizing that she holds no animosity toward him.
Tiwa Savage clarified that despite public speculation, her connection with Davido remains positive and grounded in mutual respect.
“I want to assure you, David, that despite our lack of communication, my love for you remains unwavering, and I would never betray or take sides against you,” she declared in an interview on The Breakfast Club.
The singer disclosed that she had submitted a police report against Davido, stating that the action was motivated by caution rather than animosity.
According to her, the disagreement intensified following what she termed a miscommunication. “I believe it was a miscommunication,” she observed. “I believe that, perhaps out of irritation, he may have made threats.”
Savage, while admitting that she did not think Davido would actually carry out those threats, emphasized her need for self-protection.
“He may have made threats, but did I believe he would follow through? No, however, I chose not to take any risks,” she said.
“You might be saying such things around people who wish to act on your words.”
Savage explained that, prior to taking official steps, she made an effort to resolve the issue amicably by contacting older members of Davido’s family.
I initially contacted older family members of his to explore the possibility of resolving the threats. Regrettably, none of them replied.
For documentation purposes, I did attempt to address the issue constructively prior to taking further action.
