Anthony Joshua, a world-renowned boxer, was involved in a road accident today in Makun, Ogun State.
Eyewitnesses report that the incident occurred along a busy section of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway around 11am on Monday afternoon.

Adeniyi Orojo | The stationary truck involved in the crash Our reporter, who witnessed the accident, told PUNCH Online that Joshua sustained minor injuries, and two people died on the spot.According to Adeniyi Orojo, the accident occurred just before Danco Filling Station in Makun, before Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan axis of the road. He reported that two people died at the scene.
The accident involved a convoy of two vehicles: a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV.
Joshua was seated behind the driver, accompanied by another person. In addition, a passenger was seated beside the driver, resulting in four occupants in the Lexus at the time of the crash. His security detail was traveling in the vehicle behind them prior to the accident.
Following the crash, eyewitnesses and I initiated rescue efforts and signaled for oncoming vehicles to provide assistance. Shortly thereafter, officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived.
Unfortunately, the passenger seated beside the driver and the individual beside Joshua died at the scene, as reported by the eyewitness.
Fans have expressed concern via social media, while local authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
A fatal crash involving Anthony Joshua in Ogun has resulted in two deaths, reports Adeniyi Orojo. Attempts to reach TRACE Commandant Akinbiyi Babatunde for further details on the incident were unsuccessful, as his phone calls were not returned.
In the meantime, Ogun State Police Command spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi indicated in a phone call that he would provide an update soon.

“I’ve also viewed the videos, but I will revert with more information,” he said. Additional updates on Joshua’s condition are expected shortly. In a brief statement he later shared with our correspondent about 30 minutes later, he confirmed the crash, noting that “two people died, while Joshua and one other person have been hospitalized and are receiving treatment at a hospital whose name has not been disclosed.”
