Hon. (Mrs.) Viutu Alice Shoyemi, a former councillor and one-time Leader of the Legislative Arm in Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has formally declared her intention to return to active public service.
In a letter addressed to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward E, Morogbo–Araromi, Shoyemi expressed her interest in being considered for appointment as Ward E Supervisor under the current administration of Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, Executive Chairman of Olorunda LCDA.
Shoyemi, who served as a representative of the ward between 2008 and 2011, cited a renewed passion to contribute to the growth and development of her community as the reason for her decision.
“Building on my experience, proven dedication, and deep understanding of grassroots governance, I am ready to serve with renewed wisdom, diligence, and faithfulness if given this opportunity,” she stated in the letter made available to Badagry Today.
Reflecting on her past achievements in office, Shoyemi detailed several community-driven projects and initiatives she spearheaded during her tenure.
Among them were the facilitation of three transformers, two for Ibiye and one for Araromi Origan communities, and a mini culvert bridge linking Ibiye Zone to Ilogbo Community.
She also highlighted her efforts in lobbying for the establishment of a health centre within the ward, supporting women-focused poverty alleviation programmes, and ensuring regular grading of access roads to enhance connectivity.
Throughout her tenure, Shoyemi has exhibited a profound commitment to community development, providing consistent support to residents, especially during festive seasons, by distributing essential food items such as rice, goats, and rams to party members and families across the ward.
Moreover, her dedication to youth empowerment persists, as evident in her continued sponsorship of annual football tournaments designed to promote unity, discipline, and talent discovery among young individuals.
“With renewed passion and commitment, I humbly request your support to serve another term as Ward E Supervisor, enabling us to further build upon the legacy of progress, empowerment, and service to humanity,” Shoyemi stated.
Insiders within the party report that the letter has been favorably received by some ward leaders, who have described the former councillor as a “grassroots mobilizer with a track record of results.” Her request to rejoin the council administration under Hon.
Kumayon is likely to generate renewed interest in the political dynamics within Olorunda LCDA as the administration continues to implement its agenda for inclusive governance.
