The APC’s South-South chapter has given a seven-day ultimatum to social media activist VeryDarkMan, demanding a public apology for criticizing Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s recent trip to Rome.
VeryDarkMan has questioned Akpabio’s attendance at the Pope’s funeral in light of Nigeria’s current security difficulties, arguing that the Senate President should have instead visited violent states to soothe impacted communities.
Responding, the APC South-South Zonal chapter condemned VeryDarkMan’s remarks, labeling them as disrespectful and misguided. The demand was made through a statement issued in Abuja by Blessing Agbomhere, the APC’s South-South Zonal Organizing Secretary.
The statement read in part:
“VeryDarkMan is becoming notorious for blackmail, slander, and character assassination while pretending to be an advocate for the masses and a social crusader.
The unwarranted verbal attack on the number three citizen of Nigeria, who was officially nominated by the President to lead a delegation to the Vatican — what exactly is wrong with that?
Upon his return from France and the UK, President Tinubu met with security chiefs and issued marching orders for a renewed strategy in combating insecurity. Does this sound like a leader unserious about protecting Nigerian lives and property?
Mind you, the complex security problems in the country cannot be solved overnight. It requires time and sustained commitment, which the Tinubu-led administration pledged at inception and remains dedicated to achieving.”
The APC warned that failure by VeryDarkMan to tender an apology within the given period would prompt further actions from the party.
