Clarence Peters, an acclaimed music video director, has shared a highly personal narrative about healing, forgiveness, and self-awareness, stating that he forgave his father, famed Afro-Juju artist Shina Peters, years before the two had acknowledged their rocky relationship.
In a recent episode of the Afropolitan podcast, the 41-year-old director discussed the emotional process that led to his forgiveness in 2014-2015.
According to Peters, the understanding that he had made many of his father’s mistakes triggered a significant inward shift.
“I made every single mistake my father made,” Peters said. “The only difference was that time and technology made the implications easier for me. I forgave him even before we spoke. That was the moment I actually entered adulthood.”
