A Cameroonian national made a distress call, detailing how she had been deceived from Cameroon into Nigeria on September 29, 2025, by Donald, a fellow Cameroonian, who had promised to help facilitate her Canadian visa process.
The Ogun State Police Command has successfully broken up a notorious syndicate of Cameroonian nationals that had specialized in luring and kidnapping unsuspecting victims under the guise of processing foreign visas.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit at Eleweran acted on a distress call on November 4, 2025, at 10:30am.
A distress call was made by a Cameroonian national, who described being deceived from Cameroon into Nigeria on September 29, 2025, by a fellow Cameroonian, Donald, who had promised to facilitate her Canadian visa application.
Upon arrival at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, the victim was received by members of the supposed “agency” and transported to Mowe, Ogun State, where she and her 23-year-old sister were held hostage.
On November 3, 2025, the complainant successfully escaped from captivity and notified the police, disclosing that multiple other victims were being held in a two-bedroom apartment in the Pakuro area of Ogun State.
In reaction to the report, a tactical team from the anti-kidnapping Unit stormed the hideout, liberating one of the victims, Kengne Maeva, without injury.
Concurrently, two suspects, Ndzana Kamga Isidore and Tingue Stephen, were apprehended at the scene, while the principal suspect, Donald, remains at large.
Initial probes revealed that the victims’ family members in Cameroon paid a ransom of 3,600,000 CFA into a Cameroonian bank account held by the fleeing suspect.
According to the statement, the victim was received by the supposed “agency” upon her arrival at Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, and transported to Mowe, Ogun State, where she and her younger sister, aged 23, were taken hostage.
On November 3, 2025, the complainant escaped captivity and alerted the authorities, revealing that more victims who had fallen victim to the same scam were being held in a two-bedroom flat in Ogun State’s Pakuro area.
In response to the report, a tactical team from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit raided the criminal hideout at Mowe, Ogun State, where Kengne Maeva ‘f’ was rescued safely. Two suspects — Ndzana Kamga Isidore ‘m’ and Tingue Stephen ‘m’ were taken into custody at the scene, while the principal suspect, Donald ‘M’, remains at large.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victims’ family members in Cameroon had paid a ransom of 3,600,000 CFA into the Cameroonian bank account of the fleeing suspect.”
According to the police spokesperson, “In response to this development, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, Ph.D, ordered continuous monitoring of similar criminal trends across the state.
Moreover, he instructed tactical commanders to establish communication with community stakeholders and chairmen of Community Development Associations, especially in remote areas, to report suspicious foreign nationals renting apartments directly to Police Headquarters without hesitation.
