On Saturday, some women in Ezimo community, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, staged a protest over the alleged kidnapping of five residents and the shooting of another during an attack on the community.
The protesters, who marched through major parts of the community, stated that the incident had heightened fear and insecurity in the area.
A victim of the recent attack is currently undergoing medical treatment in a hospital, according to Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, a social media influencer, who shared the information on Facebook on Saturday.
Ugwuanyi disclosed that a resident who confirmed the incident stated that the community had become unsafe due to recent cases of abductions and shootings, prompting the women to demand urgent government intervention.
In a video posted on Ugwuanyi’s Facebook page, the protesters urged the Enugu State Government and security agencies to intervene and restore peace, warning that residents could no longer live in constant fear of attacks.
One of the victims is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
