A Milestone Night for Africa’s Biggest Gospel Concert
The Experience, one of the world’s largest annual gospel gatherings, celebrates its landmark 20th edition in Lagos with the theme “Jesus United.” This year’s event draws global attention as it marks two decades of uninterrupted worship, prayer, and musical excellence.
At a press briefing on Friday, the Convener and Senior Pastor of House on the Rock, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, spoke about national development, Christmas traditions, and Nigeria’s recent designation by the U.S. President as a “state of particular concern.”
Adefarasin Calls for National Responsibility
Pastor Adefarasin urged Nigeria’s wealthy to reinvest in the country’s development.
“The rich, the wealthy, and even the wealthy thieves must contribute to infrastructure, education, schools, hospitals, and energy,” he said. “We need energy to industrialize.”
He also addressed Christmas traditions, acknowledging that while the date of Jesus’ birth is debated, the season remains a powerful moment of reflection for Christians.
He described Christmas as a celebration of Christ’s incarnation, sacrifice, resurrection, and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
On U.S. Remarks About Nigeria
Reacting to the U.S. President’s recent comments on Nigeria, Adefarasin encouraged optimism while calling for firm action against criminality.
“Even if the claims were untrue, God will use it for Nigeria’s good,” he said.
“Crimes must be prosecuted as crimes. No one should be above the law.”
Voices From the North: Worship Through Pain
Kaduna-born gospel singer Solomon Lange highlighted the unique nature of worship in Northern Nigeria.
“Our worship is the purest because we do it in the midst of pain,” he said.
While acknowledging long-standing challenges faced by Christians in the North, he cautioned against exaggerated claims.
“I don’t know about genocide. The Bible teaches us not to hate those who hate us—we must love them.”
