Asake’s ‘M$NEY’ Sets New Record as the Longest No. 1 Album in Official Albums Chart History in Nigeria
Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Asake has once again rewritten the Nigerian music record books, as his latest album, M$NEY, has become the longest-running No. 1 album in the history of Nigeria’s Official Top 100 Albums Chart.
The album has now spent 16 weeks at No. 1, surpassing the previous record of 15 weeks set by Asake himself with his 2024 album, Lungu Boy.
The latest achievement further strengthens Asake’s remarkable run on the Nigerian albums chart and makes M$NEY one of the most commercially dominant albums released in the country’s contemporary music era.
According to the latest figures from TurnTable Charts, M$NEY remained at No. 1 during the tracking week of September 4 to 10, 2026, recording 10.87 million on-demand streams, equivalent to approximately 7,250 album units during the week.
The feat means that Asake now holds the record for the longest-running No. 1 album in the history of the official Nigerian albums chart.
Asake Breaks His Own Record
The new milestone is particularly notable because Asake was already the artist who held the previous record.
His 2024 album Lungu Boy spent 15 weeks at No. 1 on the Official Top 100 Albums Chart in Nigeria.
M$NEY first equalled that mark when it reached its 15th week at the summit.
At that point, the album became the joint-longest-running No. 1 album in Nigerian chart history.
It has now gone one step further.
With its 16th week at No. 1, M$NEY has moved beyond Lungu Boy and claimed the record outright.
TurnTable Charts’ latest chart update describes the album as the sole longest-running No. 1 album in official Nigerian albums chart history.
16 Weeks at No. 1
One of the interesting aspects of M$NEY‘s run is that its 16 weeks at the summit are non-consecutive.
The album initially enjoyed a 13-week uninterrupted run at No. 1 before it was temporarily displaced by Davido’s Oriadé.
Davido’s album subsequently spent three weeks at No. 1.
M$NEY then returned to the summit and has now accumulated enough weeks to reach 16 in total.
That distinction is important because the record is based on the total number of weeks spent at No. 1 rather than requiring every week to be consecutive.
TurnTable Charts reported that M$NEY had already spent 13 uninterrupted weeks at the top before Davido’s Oriadé took over the summit for three weeks.
Strong Numbers Keep M$NEY At The Top
The latest weekly figures show that M$NEY is not simply holding the No. 1 position because of historical momentum.
During the September 4 to 10 tracking period, the album generated approximately 10.87 million on-demand streams, translating into roughly 7,250 album units.
It was also the best-selling album on the chart for the week based on album units.
The figures put M$NEY ahead of several major contemporary Nigerian releases.
Davido’s Oriadé ranked second with approximately 3,800 album units, while Victony’s STARLIFE followed at No. 3 with approximately 3,600 units.
Asake’s M$NEY Live in London (Spotify Live) also appeared strongly, ranking fourth with approximately 2,800 units.
The numbers demonstrate that M$NEY continues to attract substantial listening activity months after its release.
M$NEY Was Released In April 2026
M$NEY is Asake’s fourth studio album.
The project was released on April 30, 2026, through GIRAN Republic and EMPIRE.
According to Apple Music, the album contains 13 tracks and has a runtime of approximately 35 minutes.
The project continues the musical identity that has made Asake one of the most recognisable artists in Nigeria’s modern Afrobeats movement, while also expanding his sound through international collaborations and different musical influences.
The album’s tracklist includes songs such as “WORSHIP,” “Gratitude,” “Rora,” “Amen,” “Wa,” “MCBH,” “WHY LOVE,” “Forgiveness,” “Oba,” “BADMAN GANGSTA,” “Asambe” and “Skilful.”
The project opens with an introductory track before moving into a mixture of Afrobeats, fuji-inspired sounds, amapiano influences and other contemporary styles.
Major International Collaborations
One of the defining characteristics of M$NEY is its combination of Asake’s established Nigerian sound with international collaborations.
The album features French electronic music star DJ Snake on “WORSHIP.”
It also features French singer Tiakola on “BADMAN GANGSTA.”
South African amapiano heavyweight Kabza De Small appears on “Asambe.”
The collaborations help give the album a broader international character while keeping Asake’s vocal and rhythmic style at the centre of the project.
Apple Music describes M$NEY as a more globally oriented body of work while noting that Asake retains core elements of his sound, including energetic rhythms, powerful hooks and fuji influences.
The Album’s Singles Have Also Performed Strongly
The success of M$NEY has not been limited to the albums chart.
Several songs from the project have enjoyed significant chart activity.
According to TurnTable Charts, “Gratitude” has remained on the Official Nigeria Top 100 for an extended period and recently climbed back into the Top 10.
The song has also previously reached No. 1 on the Nigerian singles chart.
“Forgiveness” has similarly enjoyed a long chart run and has spent three weeks at No. 1.
“Asambe,” featuring Kabza De Small, has also attracted substantial streaming attention.
The continued presence of songs from the album on the singles chart has helped sustain interest in the wider project.
Asake’s Growing Collection of No. 1 Albums
The latest achievement adds another chapter to Asake’s extraordinary Nigerian chart record.
According to TurnTable Charts, his No. 1 albums and projects in Nigeria now include:
- M$NEY – 16 weeks at No. 1
- Lungu Boy – 15 weeks
- REAL, Vol. 1 – 10 weeks
- Work of Art – 9 weeks
- Mr. Money With The Vibe – 6 weeks
That gives Asake a remarkable collection of chart-topping projects across his relatively short recording career.
His ability to repeatedly return to the top with different projects demonstrates the strength of his audience and the sustained commercial performance of his music in Nigeria.
M$NEY Also Extends Asake’s Chart Dominance
Asake’s record is not limited to albums.
TurnTable Charts’ latest reporting points out that the singer also holds the record for the longest-running No. 1 single in Nigeria, with “Lonely At The Top” from Work of Art spending 13 weeks at No. 1.
With M$NEY now holding the albums record at 16 weeks, Asake has established himself at the top of both major sides of the Nigerian chart landscape.
That makes the latest milestone particularly notable.
The album record and singles record were achieved through different projects and at different stages of his career, showing a consistent level of chart performance rather than a one-off success.
A Historic First Week
M$NEY also made an immediate impact when it arrived.
The album’s release was accompanied by significant streaming activity, with Asake’s established fanbase driving strong demand across digital platforms.
Its performance subsequently translated into a lengthy stay at No. 1.
The album’s current record is therefore not simply a reflection of its debut.
The more difficult part of the achievement has been maintaining enough consumption over several months to repeatedly outperform newer projects.
That is where the 16-week milestone becomes especially significant.
Davido’s Oriadé Briefly Ended The Run
The only album to interrupt M$NEY‘s initial 13-week uninterrupted run was Davido’s Oriadé.
Davido’s project reached No. 1 and remained at the summit for three weeks.
However, M$NEY subsequently returned to the top.
In the latest tracking week, Oriadé remained a major competitor, recording approximately 5.7 million on-demand streams and the equivalent of 3,800 album units.
It ultimately ranked No. 2 behind Asake’s album.
The competition between the two projects illustrates the strength of Nigeria’s current album market, where established Afrobeats stars continue to generate substantial streaming numbers months after release.
The Current Top Albums Picture
For the September 4 to 10 tracking week, TurnTable Charts reported M$NEY at No. 1, followed by Davido’s Oriadé and Victony’s STARLIFE.
Asake also occupied another position near the top with M$NEY Live in London (Spotify Live).
Ayra Starr’s Starrgirl and Mavo’s Business were also among the leading albums for the week.
The continued presence of several major Nigerian artists demonstrates the depth of competition within the country’s rapidly expanding music industry.
Yet despite the competition, M$NEY retained the No. 1 position and extended its record.
Why The Record Matters
The achievement is important not only for Asake but also for Nigeria’s music industry.
The Official Top 100 Albums Chart provides a measurement of the consumption of music in the Nigerian market, and sustained performance at No. 1 indicates that an album is continuing to generate significant listener engagement.
For an album to spend 16 weeks at the top, it must withstand competition from newly released projects while maintaining strong consumption over an extended period.
That makes longevity a different challenge from simply achieving a huge debut.
M$NEY has now demonstrated both.
Asake’s Evolution Continues
Asake’s rise has been unusually rapid.
He emerged as one of Nigeria’s biggest music stars through a combination of distinctive vocal delivery, fuji-inspired melodies, street-pop influences, energetic production and highly recognisable visual branding.
His debut studio album, Mr. Money With The Vibe, helped establish him internationally.
Work of Art further strengthened his position, while Lungu Boy became another major commercial success.
Now, M$NEY has surpassed the chart record previously established by Lungu Boy.
The fact that Asake has broken his own record rather than taking it from another artist adds another layer to the achievement.
The big question now is how much further M$NEY can extend its record.
With 16 weeks already secured, every additional week at No. 1 will increase the gap between the album and the previous 15-week benchmark.
The album is also continuing to receive significant streaming activity, while songs from the project remain visible on Nigeria’s singles chart.
For now, however, the historical milestone has already been achieved.
M$NEY is officially the longest-running No. 1 album in the history of Nigeria’s Official Top 100 Albums Chart.
And the record is particularly fitting for an album whose title is stylised around one of the most familiar symbols of commercial success.
Asake’s M$NEY has quite literally turned chart success into a record.
