
The Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, has declared Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance the winner of the Anambra State governorship election, which took place on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Soludo won with a total of 422,664 votes, beating Nicholas Ukachukwu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 99,445 votes, and Sir Paul Chukwuma, the Young Progressives Party candidate, who came third with 37,753 votes.
According to INEC’s data, a total of 16 candidates from various political parties contested the election.
The state had a total of 2,788,864 registered voters, with 598,229 accredited. The election saw 595,298 votes cast, with 11,244 rejected across the state’s 21 local government areas.
As announced, Soludo of APGA secured a landslide victory, winning in all 21 local government areas.
On Sunday, Omoregie announced the results at the INEC headquarters in Awka, stating, “The number of registered voters was 2,788,864, accredited voters were 598,229, valid votes totaled 584,054, rejected votes were 11,244, and the total votes cast were 595,298.”
He stated, “Following the compilation of results as recorded in Form EC8E, it is now my privilege to announce the scores obtained by each candidate according to their respective political parties.”
In certain areas of Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka South, and Onitsha South LGAs, incidents occurred, resulting in cancellations in several wards, affecting 10,481 votes. Nonetheless, the margin of lead between the top candidates did not impact the election’s overall outcome.
I, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, Returning Officer for the 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election, hereby declare that the election was peaceful.
Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, having garnered 422,664 votes — the highest number of valid votes cast and having satisfied the requirements of the law — is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.
