The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has declared that the maiden edition of the Nigeria International Airshow marks the country’s significant entry into the global aerospace arena. She made the statement during the historic event held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Mahmoud stated that the airshow represents a major milestone in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to reposition strategic sectors as engines of national growth, job creation, and international competitiveness. She commended the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and his team for the vision and commitment that made the event a reality.
According to her, the Nigeria International Airshow goes beyond an exhibition of aircraft and emerging technologies—it signifies Nigeria’s readiness to embrace the future of aviation, aerospace engineering, and next-generation mobility systems.
Mahmoud also highlighted Abuja’s continued importance as Nigeria’s primary gateway to the world. Hosting the inaugural international airshow, she said, demonstrates the government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure, implementing supportive policies, and driving strategic investments across safety-critical and innovation-driven industries.
She noted that the airshow has opened new opportunities across aviation-linked sectors including logistics, tourism, hospitality, technology startups, training academies, and maintenance services within the FCT.
The Minister applauded the participation of airlines, aerospace manufacturers, drone technology developers, aviation training institutions, and other industry professionals at the event. She added that the airshow also serves as a platform for young Nigerians to explore careers in aerospace engineering, avionics, artificial intelligence mobility systems, and sustainable aviation fuels.
Mahmoud encouraged exhibitors, investors, and delegates to explore partnerships, network, and develop innovative solutions capable of unlocking the enormous potential presented by the landmark event.
